A Man For All Seasons is a period piece that tells a story of England's past but relates it to current-day politics and opinions. This film pushes past just the stageplay by showing us this larger world of Chelsea and the English countryside. Why the coloring is muted and dull it does take you back in time to this period without locking you in one location.
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Is mainly contained in one location/house and is easy to see how this is taken from a stage to the big screen. Alfie is all about free love and expression. While it can be considered very dated for today’s era, it still tells a compelling story about a troubled protagonist. With bright blue skies and the pop of color in the 60s fashion, these films encapsulate the time period. It doesn’t feel made for the stage but our fourth-wall-breaking narrator might be the telltale sign.
